Spanish Immersion

For a version of this page in Spanish, click here: Programa de Immersión en Español

Escondido School hosts the elementary grade classes of the Palo Alto Unified School District's Spanish Immersion (SI) Program. There are two classes of Spanish Immersion students per grade level. Places are awarded by lottery. All applicants must be registered in the PAUSD. Siblings of currently-enrolled students have priority, but must still apply. The district's first Spanish Immersion kindergarten class started in September 1995. The program moved to Escondido School in the fall of 1997. Both the prospective parent meeting and classroom visits are typically scheduled in January or February and are placed on the Escondido online calendar (to the right of this column) a month or so before.

If you want to enter the lottery for the program, you must attend the classroom visit and parent information meeting.

If you are interested in applying for the program, there are several documents that you need to read. All are available from the school office, or downloadable immediately below.
