Prospective students must live within the boundaries of the PAUSD and be registered in the district during Round 1 Registration or have been accepted into PAUSD with the Tinsley program.
-
To be included in the initial kindergarten lottery, the applicant must be registered for kindergarten. If the child is not registered and their name is drawn, their selection will be withdrawn.
-
Applications
All program applicants, including siblings, must complete an application before the deadline to be eligible for participation in the lottery held for Palo Alto choice programs. A public lottery is held to select the students for the program. Students will retain their space at their neighborhood school until the parent/guardian signs an intra-district transfer to the Spanish Immersion Program, after being selected in the lottery.
-
Siblings
Siblings of current Escondido SI students who will still be Escondido students at the time the incoming kindergarten student begins school have first priority. They will have a space in the program, as long as they follow all registration and choice program application requirements (including registration at the district by the deadline). Spanish-speaking siblings are assessed to determine their oral language proficiency. Based on the results of the assessment, they are placed into one of the three program categories for the lottery.
